While Outlook is a very reliable email client, there are times when users experience unexpected errors. One such error is the “Outlook Your Digital ID Name Cannot Be Found” error. This article will provide information on what causes this error and how to fix it.
Check Your Spelling
In the age of spell check and auto-correct, it’s easy to become complacent about our spelling skills. However, there are still many instances where getting our words wrong can have serious consequences. For example, when filling out a form or application, a typo can lead to our information being recorded incorrectly. In a business setting, an email with misspelled words can give the impression of carelessness or incompetence. And in personal correspondence, an incorrect spelling can be frustrating for the person on the other end. So next time you’re about to hit “send,” take a few extra seconds to double-check your spelling. It could make all the difference.
Make Sure the Outlook ID You Are Looking For Is Not Already Being Used
Have you ever gone to look for an Outlook email only to find that the address is already being used? If so, you’re not alone. Every day, thousands of people try to create new Outlook accounts only to find that their desired ID is already taken. While this can be frustrating, there are a few things you can do to increase your chances of finding an available ID. First, try using a different variation of your desired ID. For example, if you wanted “jane.smith@outlook.com” but that’s already taken, you could try “jane_smith@outlook.com” or “janesmith@outlook.com.” If that doesn’t work, you could also try adding a number or other characters to your ID. For example, you could try “jane.smith2@outlook.com” or “jane.smith+1@outlook.com.” Finally, if you’re still having no luck, you could try using a different email service such as Gmail or Yahoo. While it’s not ideal, it’s better than having an unusable Outlook account.
Confirm That You Have an Active Microsoft Account
You must have a Microsoft account to sign in to Outlook.com. If you don’t have an account yet, select Create one! If you’ve forgotten the password for your Microsoft account, see I forgot the password for my Microsoft account.
If your address isn’t recognized when you try to sign in, it might mean:
You accidentally typed your email address or password wrong. Check to make sure you didn’t miss any characters in your email. If you have a Microsoft 365 Family subscription, make sure you’re trying to sign in with the adult’s Microsoft account, not the kids’ or parents’ email address. Note: The adult’s Microsoft account is the one that was used to create the subscription. The adults are the only ones who can manage the subscription and add or remove people from it. To see which email address is associated with your Microsoft 365 Family subscription, go to subscriptions.microsoft.com, select your subscription, and then select Billing and payments > view details > Manage under Payment and billing options. You may be trying to sign in with a school or work email account that uses Office 365 for business instead of a personal Outlook.com account (which uses a different login system).
